Crawl Space Drainage System
InstaDry® Drainage System (IDS) Flat Drainage Pipe is used to move water from around the foundation to a crawl space sump pump like the InstaDry® Sump Kit. This type of drain is more compact and must be installed level and not on a slope as with all interior drain systems to prevent erosion. This drain is 1" thick by 6" wide and is installed standing upright in a ditch that is 6" deep. Back fill can be coarse sand, clean gravel or drainage rock.
It is highly advised-
- that soil containing clay does not come in contact with this drain to prevent clogging of the silt fabric that filters the water.
- the installer does use the (IDS) drainage system fittings to prevent a system failure due to clogging with soil
- the installer does not bury the pipe completely, but rather leave approximately 3/4" to 1" exposed to aid in surface water drainage
- for large amounts of water this pipe can be double or tripled to increase water flow
- this pipe does not install into a cut in the sump basin but rather ran too and ended in the filter stone around the basin, see diagram in photos above.
This pipe can be cut with a sharp pocket or utility knife.
Available IDS drain pipe fittings-
- 90º for sharp inside and outside corners
- End Cap to terminate or begin from somewhere other than the sump basin
- Coupling to extend the pipe or connect pieces together
- End to 4" pipe allowing this flat pipe system to connect to a 4" round pipe going in the same direction
- Side out T to 4" pipe allowing the flat pipe system to connect to a 4" round pipe from a 90º angle
- Soil Gas 90º used if this pipe will aid in soil gas mitigation
- T connection used to connect an additional IDS pipe at a 90º angle
